When Life Gives You Lemons

When Life Gives You Lemons

Tawni Jedwski, a downtown business owner, discusses her own experience with starting Lemonality and its current status.

From freshly squeezed lemonade to party supplies and flowers, Lemonality has all the little joys in life to make things better. Lemonality is a small business located at 10 West Kansas Street, Liberty, MO. They have a wide range of things they sell, and their lemonade is definitely a fan favorite. They offer over fifteen different flavors to choose from as well as added energy boosts and sweetness levels. Tawni Jedwski has owned Lemonality since it first opened, but she hasn’t always been a business owner. In fact, she didn’t even start with a business degree. She was focused on psychology before switching to her passion in business and now loves what she does.
Tawni owns all of Lemonality and does most everything around the store. No day is the same for her but having that complete creative freedom with creating her own branding and choosing what she promotes is what makes it all come together so well. She started selling online, and during COVID, just grew from there. What made her decide to finally open up and get back into the community in Downtown Liberty is mainly for the people as well.
“I love the community in Downtown Liberty. We see the same people over and over. We truly have a family community involvement down here. It’s good to see regulars and people come back time and time again. It’s really nice down here.”
They’ve made a lot of changes in the last year and are always looking to add new and exciting things. They even have seasonal items and lemonade flavors, so just finding those new ways to evolve and keep going is what makes it so unique.
“The biggest challenge is just keeping up with the new and making sure you always have something new and evolving so  that people want to continue to come back to see what changes are happening.”
The biggest advice Tawni said she would give is to just not give up — especially if you’re thinking about starting a business on your own. You don’t have to have a certain degree or a lot of experience; you just have to be passionate and really care about the output you work on.
“Do not give up in the beginning because it’s definitely not easy. You have to put the work in and truly put your heart into it. If you believe in what you do and really enjoy what you do, it’ll work.”
